Origins:
I first drew this picture as a "quickie" drawing to send off to a
few friends of mine in the East coast. But when I was finished with the pencil
drawing, it looked a little plain. So then I shaded it, and mounted this
version on purple construction paper. Now, however, the colored paper made the
just-a-bunch-of-greys pencil look bland. So I colored in some flesh tones, and so
and and so forth, until I was finally happy with it.
The people I sent it to really liked to color Xeroxes, and I made
up a few now-very-rare T-shirts. The first run didn't transfer very well, at
this is when I was really getting bothered by the dark black lines in the wing detail.
I decided that before I went to the trouble to print more shirts, maybe I should put
myself though living hell and retouch the wings...
