About OSC

OSC was established in 1989. As our products reflect, our purpose is to create digital audio software technologies for multitrack hard disk recording, sound design, synthesis, sequencing and synchronization to video and film. We are one of the few companies writing proprietary DSP code for sound and picture processing on the Macintosh. We currently have distribution in over 40 countries worldwide, including the United States and Canada.

We have manufactured or currently manufacture and sell the following products:

DECK II:
DECK was originally used for four track hard disk recording with synchronous MIDI recording and playback. Original DECK also offered moving fader automation, digital mix-to-disk, and unlimited, non-degrading track bounce. Among other awards, DECK (and DECK II) won the 1990 and 1993 MacUser Eddy awards for best music and sound software. The current release of DECK (DECK II) adds true workstation features, including 8 tracks of playback (on av machines) extended visual editing, synchronous QuickTime movie playback, visual automation editing, AppleEvent support, MIDI file playback, continuous resynchronization etc. DECK II is the only multitrack audio workstation software that currently works on the new AT&T-based 660 and 840 av machines.

Pro Tools:
OSC developed the core software technology used in Digidesign s Pro Tools system (4 to 16 tracks). This technology belongs to OSC and has been licensed to Digidesign. OSC also manufactured the ProDECK portion of the ProTools package. Pro Tools won the 1992 and 1993 Post Magazine Professionals Choice award for best digital audio workstation, and was nominated for Recording Product of the Year in the 1992 TEC awards.

MediaMix:
MediaMix is manufactured by OSC and sold exclusively by Avid Technology as a part of their Media Composer system. It is a multitrack digital audio package for post-production synchronization to video. OSC has sold and licensed audio technology to Avid Technology since 1989.

METRO:
Formerly called Beyond, Metro is a full-function, dedicated MIDI sequencer that runs synchronously in the background or foreground with OSC digital audio products. It allows simultaneous use of MIDI and digital audio on a single Macintosh, and supports the MIDI Manager and OMS.

POKE:
OSC also publishes and sells CD-ROM sound collections for music, film and video. These ROMs, A Poke in the Ear, Volumes 1, 2, and 3, consist of soundfiles in AIFF format, and are designed for use with OSC software products, and any compatible Digidesign (or other) systems.

Transport:
Transport converts session documents, playlists, edits, automation, sync references and file locations between any of the three session formats. It also prints out a detailed mixer's cue sheet, saving you hours of tedious hand labor.

OSC has spent the last four years developing DSP technologies, and is currently developing a number of new products. Our current aim is to bring the high- end multi-track sound and video technologies we have created within reach of the average independent artist. That is why our newest products are so aggressively priced (DECK II = $399, Metro = $225).

Also of interest is MetaLanguage, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OSC. MetaLanguage is an audio/video post-production facility where our products are used and tested. Audio projects completed by MetaLanguage include sound design services for Ridley Scotts Black Rain, dialog and effects editing for Jon Josts The Bed You Sleep In, dialog editing for John Hansons feature, Shimmer, and most recently, dialog and ambience editing for Rafal Zalinskys, feature Fun. Our Macintosh software is used for all MetaLanguage projects.
