Catchy melodies, danceable rhythms and social commentary sweetened with a Gothic flavor---these are the hallmarks of San Francisco-based "Secret Secret."

logo Founded in 1991, the philosophy behind Secret Secret arose out of such genre-defining works as Blade Runner (Ridley Scott film noir) and Sandman (the definitive DC Vertigo Comic). Although not exactly "cyber," the band is heavily influenced by William Gibson, and almost bore the name of one of Gibson's novels -- "Count Zero" was narrowly rejected in favor of the double-hitting moniker.

Double-named bands have a lot going for them," says Rob, singer/ songwriter for Secret Secret. "Merely by saying a word twice people are more likely to remember it."

Dave sometimes jokingly refers to the band as "Victoria's Secret Secret," since fashion appears on the forefront of everyone's mind.

Not all bands have a logo they can call by name, or one that has a husband in TV land! Secret Secret's logo is affectionately named Samantha, in honor of Samantha Stevens from the long-syndicated "Bewitched" series. For the big band tie-in, take careful note of the initials...

Much of the groundwork for Secret Secret's distinctive musical style was laid out by Rob in San Francisco, although the final international incarnation of the group materialized when Shannon, Dave, and Taiko joined the band.

Taiko, a Japanese singer and keyboard player who had just moved to the U.S. following her world travels, joined Secret Secret because it offered her a way to express herself. She believes in things like Magic, Vampires and Fashion. Taiko is looking forward to the day she has a closet full of Betsy Johnson attire.

Dave, who is constantly trying to shrug off feelings of Andy Fletcher-hood, applies himself towards Keyboard Wrangling during the live shows, and, when not poised behind the electronics, painting works "destined for the Louvre!"

The additional task of French Vocal Performance falls to Shannon. On her off-hours, it's not uncommon to find Shannon practicing her hula hoop technique, or singing medieval verse.

Secret Secret is currently completing production on The Dreaming, their first CD-ROM product. The Dreaming is a Graphic/Music CD.
