NO WHITES ALLOWED

Not many years ago in this land
there used to be signs saying:
"No dogs allowed,
No Mexicans allowed,
No Blacks allowed,
No Chinese allowed,
No Queers allowed."
Hey pink-pale pilgrim of the 20th Century,
when you arrived to America
did you see any signs saying,
"No Whites allowed?"
When I say America,
do you think I am speaking of a country or a continent?
If I come to this country running undocumented
on the freeways of history do you think
I am a tourist, a terrorist or an alien?
If I bite the hand that oppresses me,
would you think I am an animal?
Well think twice pink-pale-pilgrim
when you see me in the streets
asking you for a cigarette
or some spare change,
homeless, classless, creedles!
If I call you a highly technified honky barbarian,
would you think I am a bigot?
If a white woman gives me love,
would you think that she betrayed her race?
If you hire an undocumented woman to take care
of your children, would you report her to the I.N.S.
If she asks for a raise?
Do you think I need a credit card for credibility?
Do you own a state of mind
or does the state own your mind?
If I overthrow the dictatorship
of the white single god-dollar from my heart,
would you consider my words
pagan or revolutionary?
Hey pink-pale-pilgrim,
when does a Mexican-American become
an American rather than a Mexican?
When does an Afro-American become
an American rather than an African?
When does an Asian-American become
an American rather than an Asian?
When does an Indian-American become
an American rather than an Indian?
Hey pink-pale-pilgrim don't forget
the K.K.K. is a Christian fraternity
and berfore you came gays were
in harmony with maternity.
If I
splatter
you accidentally
with HIV blood while
cutting my veins, have I committed
suicide or genocide?
If I vomit my dreams in your face,
would you accept we exist?
We resist! We exist! We resist! We exist!
And we still are existing in this land!
And I hear my voice among others,
who hear themselves in my voice.
Would you hear more?
Would you hear more?
Would you hear more
of the pain of being less,
of the pain of being less,
just because nature
wrapped me in
brown flesh?
